As we practice in the Chinley and Buxworth WI Hall, we wondered if the WI members would like us to go along to one of their meetings to talk about Morris generally and about the Cotswold tradition in particular. They jumped at the opportunity. Little did some members know that once we’d spent some time talking, demonstrating some of the distinctive stepping and hanky patterns, and performing a couple of dances from different traditions… we asked them to get up and learn a dance!
A few were reticent, while others got up right-away.
A quick demo and few minutes teaching and they were off, dancing Adderbury Bluebells of Scotland (aka Highland Laddie). Plenty of smiling faces.
Unfortunately, we were all busy while the dancing was going on, so no action photos, but here are Cracken with the less camera-shy WI members.
